MERIT provides technology expertise, resources, and services directly to students, faculty, and other organizations that support UW–Madison’s academic mission.
MERIT offers information on using technology in teaching and learning environments, operates and manages classrooms, and public and multimedia computer clusters in MERIT Library.

336 Active Learning Space
This is an active learning space with movable tables and chairs for up to 45 people. Portable markerboards and hanging rails are installed around the room. A/V system includes: instructor station; SmartBoard interactive whiteboard with projector and speakers; Dell computer (Windows OS); ELMO TT-02s document camera; laptop input with VGA, audio, and USB; and a DVD/VHS player.

Instructional computer lab with Apple 27″ iMacs with 10.10.2 (Yosemite), Intel Core i5 3.2 GHz processors, 16GB memory, and 1TB storage. Two Epson Perfection v700 photo scanners with 4800/6400 dpi optical resolution, 48-bi color depth, and maximum document size of 8.5×11.7 inches. SmartBoard interactive whiteboard with projector attached to instructor workstation. ELMO TT-02s document camera. One VGA, audio, and USB laptop input at instructor workstation. Seating capacity of 23.

Instructional computer lab with one instructor and 13 student workstations. Computers are Dell Optiplex 7010 computers with Windows 7 (x64), Quad Core i7 3.4 GHz processors, 16GB memory, 1TB storage, DVD-RW drives, and Nvidia Quadro 600 graphics cards. Two Epson Perfection v700 photo scanners with 4800/6400 dpi optical resolution, 48-bi color depth, and maximum document size of 8.5×11.7 inches. After-Hours Facility Use
MERIT reviews requests for one time, after-hours facility use on a case-by-case basis based on staffing availability.

Restrictions
- Requests for scheduling of space outside of posted MERIT Library hours must be made at least one month in advance in order to allow time to secure staffing for the date needed
- Reservations outside of posted MERIT Library hours are not guaranteed; availability will be determined by the MERIT Classroom Coordinator

Fees
- MERIT will provide a cost estimate for the reservation prior to final confirmation
- The sponsoring department or unit will be responsible for paying MERIT during the hours of usage outside of posted MERIT Library hours
Lab Tour Request
MERIT offers tours of its computer lab and instructional facilities in the Teacher Education Building. Tours are recommended for instructors who are considering teaching in MERIT’s spaces in order to observe equipment and software capabilities and determine if they are appropriate for their curriculum.

122 Podcast & Video Studio
Multimedia room with three microphones and three headsets. Audio and video equipment are provided. Seats up to nine people in the studio. Acoustic panels are hung around the walls featuring a flat screen TV. Provide your own USB drive or SD card to record, as well as laptop or devices to edit.

A/V Technology
MERIT offers consultation on A/V technology purchases and installation within your department or unit. MERIT also provides A/V support for technology-infused School of Education classrooms and meeting spaces.

MERIT can help you coordinate the installation of digital signage in School of Education managed spaces. Installation is a group project that includes Business Office and MERIT personnel and may require Facility Planning and Management personnel.
